The shop that replaced my clutch when I bought my car said they used Dextron 3 in it and another shop topped of my rear end with conventional fluid when it calls for synthetic in Alldata. No wonder my engine blew after I had a turbo installed nobody I used knew what they where doing. If you wonder why I take credit for the install it's because I've totally redone the install top to bottom fixing everything and learning on the way. FYI the rear mount turbo's intake was run with exhaust flexpipe and heavily kinked to give you an idea of how it was done.

The manual transmissions actually take Dexron III ATF. And I don't think they all call for synthetic. Mine doesn't. It says "75w90 GM Gear oil"

They probably use Mitchell. That is preferred because it has colored diagrams, and is easier to read, etc.

".... what the shop said they put in the clutch"??? .... do you mean they used ATF in the hydraulics? And how would that cause the engine to "blow"?

The shop said they put Dextron 3 in the clutch and it helps it respond better in cold weather. Another mechanic caused the engine to blow because he tac welded scavenge pump to the trunk and it fell off running the car out of oil.

It started smoking then after I pulled over the low oil light came on as I was coming to a stop. It had a really bad tune on it to so that's probably part of the reason the motor died as well. Nice car.
