That sounds like a bad PCV valve if it's putting oil in the TB

 

ok from my research i am going to go wiht a oil catch can just have to figure how to install it

 

its really easy to install

mount the catch can on the same side as ur coming off the valve cover and also that the line runs into the TB..... run a rubber hose from valve cover/PCV, to the catch can, and then run a rubber hose from the catch can to the TB and ur done.... very easy to install, shouldnt take u more then 5 or 10 min

 

I'd make an effort to discover why you are getting excessive pressure in the crankcase, forcing the vapor to flow backwards through the air supply system, and into the throttle body. Putting a catch can in is sort of like putting a band-aid on an axe wound, and hoping it will stop the bleeding.

 

Maybe just a cheap PCV valve like mentioned above, I have seen a brand new Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme 3.4L off the lot with 5 miles, have oil in the throttle body due to a bad PCV valve.

 

That sounds like my brother's 94. 3.4 DOHC

 

Sadly, the 3800 has issues with the PCV. It just isn't a great system and only runs a ventilation setup from somewhere in the back of the lifter valley. I change out my pcv valve every 9K miles or so.

The best way (without drilling the valve covers) to take care of the PCV and setup a real catch can would be to use an oil/air separator can, block off the pcv port in the throttle body or intake, tap the PCV plate with an npt fitting and run the hose to the catch can with a check valve, then run a hose from the pcv to the throttle body so it can draw vacuum.

Or you can just run a line to the catch can and run a breather but you will get oil film all over your engine bay.

 

hmmm, i think im goin to change my PCV, not sure if the shop changed it when they built my motor, im pretty sure they would of, but i have 14k miles on it..... im goin to check my TB tomorrow and see if any oil in there

 

I just checked mine, and I saw a tiny bit. Going to change mine tomorrow. It's the original. 161k miles on that puppy

 

im pretty sure no matter what, a tiny bit or residue is normal.... just have to worry when there's drops or coating everything..... also a good way to distroy and ruin ur MAF, too

 

i knowtised the is no line running to the pcv valve there is a port that goes into the pcv housing but its screwed off is this normal and does someone have a picture they can put of theres
