I am slowly replacing all the cracked hoses in my car, I have noticed this for a few weeks and just now getting around to address it. I think it has actually gotten worse, the line is literally crimping and closing off fuel to the pump. I am not crazy about just replacing the hose with cut line like the previous owner did. Any idea how to find a pre-formed fuel line or would you do something different?

If you have access to a looped hose it might work, but pretty much anyone could cut a new section of hose and get it to fit 10x better than that, be clear of steering, and not require securing, especially to an area that doesn't allow engine movement.

That hose looks to be too long for the job. Don’t think you need that tie wrap on it either..
Way too long. It is bizarre it was left like that, because this car was in car shows and won awards. It caught my eye when I first examined the engine bay. I will post some pictures this weekend after I correct it.

That says all you need to know about shows!

Maybe someone with a Ponti can post a pic of theirs. I provably have a diagram but photo be more useful and interesting.
Well mine is not original, this big 454 takes up a lot of the engine bay.

That appears to be a short tight bend. Part of your issue might be is Pontiac V8s have fuel pump mounted on driver's side. If you car originally came with a Pontiac V8 that is. Did yours come with an Olds 403 or Pontiac 400 originally? You might consider an aftermarket fuel pump that can be clocked.

Yep, forgot it was a 454, makes more sense as to weird hose and afterthought. Therefore, BBC in Camaro might be interesting.

10sec googling so may not be of terribly much use...but also saw mention of aftermarket fuel pumps for Chev or BBC not always having outlets the correct angle. Just in case one poses an issue, could be options.

Ok this is weird......clearly same car...so trust nothing, guy must have been showing something.

My 78 has the fuel lines on the passenger side….prob came with a sbc. Has a 75’ block in it. The pics Aus posted look just like my layout…..fuel pump same position

Going off what the original owner remembers, it came with a 301.

@Aus78Formula you have a picture of everything, every scenario.

Haha nah, was just heading out the door and thought id search what was typical there, and those were the two best pics from different forums. I'll check my manuals later, have a few Camaro although mostly SBC, could be any early 396 or 402 somewhere.

I was thinking I would need to heat the hose and form it, but honestly I think the person that put that hose on made it too long, then for some reason used a zip tie. I am just going to replace it, shorten it and keep an eye out.

I replaced it all today. I was going to use spring clamps, I prefer those but damn if the ones I order from Rock Auto were not hot garbage. I would not trust those for even a vacuum line. I just ended up using the old clamps. I cut away the hose to show you guys how bad that crimp was.
