Coolant temperature sensor location

I bought a 95 3.4 v6 two months ago and i love it, it's been a dream to drive!! Last week i noticed the engine temp increased rapidly when idleing and saw that the coolant fan wasn't spinning. I have checked the fuse, relay and fan itself and everything is working. At this point I can only think that the coolant temperature switch/sensor is faulty. Is that a possibility? I've also searched like crazy for that switch but can't find it. If anyone is willing to help me locate the sensor I would greatly appreciate it!! Or if it could be something else.

What was the indicated temperature on the instrument cluster? It may have been in spec and did not need extra cooling.

There are two sensors, one under the plenum/throttle body that controls the fans and one in the cylinder head that feeds the gauge.
