Yeah, he was a member on the forum I frequent (fullthrottlev6). H-pipe true duals sound really great on the V6. X-pipe makes it sound a bit more european which is fine by me. I would have tried to run the tips out the back because dumped before the axle just turns the car into a rattle can

ive got the magnaflow muffler and cat, stainless steel piping, it sounds amazing, it gives it that deep mean sound without being obnoxiously loud, love it, but if you do add exhaust and change the cat the engine will through a code because it thinks theres a hole in the cat because to much air is going through it, so your going to need a resister to trick the ecu so your check engine light dosnt come on, heres the link to one, http://www.afterthou....com/o2sim.html , or you could build it yourself for much less, http://www.paladinmi...LEliminator.htm
Is this the system you have?

Yes, it will fit. The chassis between a V8 and V6 is the same. You'd be best served to have the same diameter exhaust all the way back to the muffler though. If you're just wanting to replace your stock setup, there's plenty to choose from online.

Holy smokes, forgot about this thread lol!

My exhaust has since changed as some of yall know, but I'll repost the vid here:
My W68 97 Firebird has been sporting a Forsa Sport Muffler for the past several months.. It sounds nice, so much so that other V-8's always want a piece of the action..

I recently purchased the 96 bird from the second owner. its bone stock. I really dont want to spend much coin on it for now, but would like to put the dynomax 17739 super turbo on it, but wanted the stock looking tailpipes. I was worried if I bought the V8 tailsections from a formula at autozone etc...that the hanger would not line up. So if they do I can give it the dyno max for like $60 and the tailpipes from a fpormula for another $60. Then add the tips later? No need weld?

If you are just looking for sound, then you really don't need a whole kit. I spent days surfing youtube, and eventually went with a cherry bomb glasspack. I don't get any raspy noises unless I just rev it, then I get them when the RPMs come back down. I bought it and had it installed for under $100 (I think it was $70 total.) they make them with angled pipes at either end so it just goes right where the old one went. Honestly, I think it sounds the best out of any videos I've ever seen.

As plus, I had someone ask if it was a V8 or a V6 after driving by,
Here is the closest one to mine in sound that I could find.

my honest opinion the true dual x or H is by far the best sound but very difficult setup to construct. At the moment Iam running a trudual with an x pipe, dynomax super turbos.drone is loud at first start but once warmed up it is mellow. The sound through out the rev band is excellent. the car is loud at wot so resonators are in order. At the moment I'm waiting on time for a exhaust shop to fab up a better routing to get me some much needed clearance. I did post I was selling the setup but the music the car makes won me over. And the power gained was definetly noticeable and worth every penny

Of coarse it would be more costly, wouldn't it sound deeper if you dumped the two into one and went to a manifold back dual exhaust ??

I have a 2001 3.8L V6 with a stock exhaust, a while back i needed to replace the cat-converter, the new one is a Flow Master and by itself made the stock exhaust sound a little bit better.

The one thing im going to do is only cosmetic is get a dual tip muffler, since the cut outs for the exhaust tips are there it would give it a cleaner look.

This summer I put a vibrant resonator going into a 2.5 borla xr1 race muffler. Its the only v6 exhaust I have heard that doesnt sound like its blowing through a garbage bag. Keeps the distinct sound without the nasty rasp gargle our cars are known for. It is also dumped at the axle
