Hello all, thank you glad to be a new member! My 98 LS1 T/A cranks/ spins over but won't start.. only 10 psi fuel pressure at the rails..brand new fuel pump, old fuel pump done the same thing.. relays/fuses seem to be ok. Getting spark, fuel pump doesn't prime like normal only blips on for a split second[literally] instead of the normal 3 or 4 seconds..has a P0601 code for PCM memory..but that could be dude to me unhooking the battery every night? Reason why i done that was because it had a parasitic drain, now car won't even start.. so, bad ECM???? You guys tell me, car hasn't ran in 2 months

Have you replaced the fuel filter? That's always a recommended service with a new fuel pump.

Download (free, courtesy of member GaryDoug) the 1998 factory service manual. On page 6-1633 in the 5.7L V8 engine control section, there is a description and diagnostics for P0601. Unfortunately, the most significant sentence seems to be “Replace PCM if this code exists only in memory”.

Take a look at the whole page for additional info.

If the fuel pump only “blips” it's not going to build pressure. An additional check would be the fuel pressure regulator. If I recall correctly, the 1998 is the only F-Body LS1 with a “recirculating“ fuel system, which would place the fuel pressure regulator at the fuel rails. 1999 and up have a dead-end fuel system, with the fuel pressure regulator internal to the fuel pump sending unit, with a “tee” at the fuel filter sending fuel back to the regulator.
