Ok, so I'm wondering the top speed on a 1979 Trans Am with the 301 Pontiac Engine. Has Anyone ever topped out theirs or read about it, I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Ok, weight, temp. humidity, wind speed and direction, elevation, gearing, tires, all kinds of factors weigh in on top speed.
But, for a best guess, I would say low 130's for a Trans am, on the salt flats on a decent day. Hows that?

I owned a 301 4bbl powered 4-speed 79 Formula with 2.42 rear gears, I never found a long and flat enough road to get it over 105, I think that was all it had in stock form, maybe with 2.92 or 3.08 axle it might have enough HP to go alittle higher.
