3.4 V6. How can I get more horsepower?

I have a '95 Firebird, 3.4 V6, 4 speed auto. It has nearly 100K on it and it's stock except for the wheels. I want more power. But I want it in the "bolt on" type. The things I'm not looking at are: changing the V6 to a V8, turbos,
nitrous, and anything that would melt the engine. I am looking for: intakes, dual exhaust, computer tweaks, tranny tweaks. What kind of horsepower gains should I expect?
I really love the car as it is as I have to commute over winding roads and the C5 wheels and tires stick like glue but it's kinda embaresing getting smoked by 4 door Mercedes.

For a little pep, the standard forumla applies, get the car breathing. Intake/exhaust. Then, what you will notice the most would be a nice set of gears in the back with an LSD either 3:73 or 4:11. Stiffen up the chassis and that will have you feeling the speed more, pan hard rod, lower control arms, thicker sway bars, sub frame connectors are a must in these cars for a spirited driver. The trans is easily upgradable with a shift kit and a stall converter. Your injectors can be swapped out to pump some more fuel in which will liven up the car. Basically if you want to ($) you can make a respectable 6er that will chirp some tires.

There are people that build the 3.4s up substantially, first step is to swap out to a set of 3500 series cylinder heads. Forged internal and turbo set ups are also done and have a good amount of HP, but thats more $, unless you love the car or want to do something outside the box save up and buy an LS1 or LT1.

i agree with them 2 there isnt alot of things you do with the 3.4 but a 3.8 and 5.7 liter you can do alot.
u can buy a used 3.8 engine from a junk yard or ebay, i think it would pribaly work besides the computer and temp.
but a cold air intake you can one for less than 50 dollars if you buy it all seperate and make ur own/ headers -pacesster,magnflow or flowmaster exhaust would sound good and give you some horses headers will give you 20 horses stock.

Crispy basically covered it all. Get a cold air intake homemade or bought, a cat-back exhaust with either gutted or highflow cat, gearing, an Aluminum driveshaft out of (LT1 or LS1 fbody I think?) and underdrive pulley's for simple bolt-ons.

If you want to get more tricky without resorting to v8 swaps or induction you could start getting into the aluminum FWD head swap, cams, ect but for a DD its not worth it. Kinda like trying to make a honda fast. (No offence to any honda owners of course

I have done just about every one of these mods to my 3.4 and don't really notice a difference. It is still fun to drive. Enjoy it for what it is and save up for a ls1. You will not be sorry if you do. I did and I love it. I drive my 3.4L during the week and the LS1 TA on the weekends. One of the best things I ever did.

Im in the same boat mate. i have a 95 v6 3.4 auto. i picked it up for $700. fixed it and am currently looking to sell it. ive done my research and have not had much success. even a turbo you would have to rebuild the engine cause the 3.4 isnt built for forced induction. im looking to collect a firebird of every gen, so i have the 70s, and the 90s, but looks like ill have to replace my 3.4 for a LT1 or similar. as said take it for what it is.

You could do a Turbo, but nobody makes a kit for it, a custom one is VERY expensive and on stock internals you could run about 8lbs of boost. This is one that was done. The guy paid over $5,000 just for the kit to be made.
