1979 Trans AM windows slop

I have non-powered door windows and the glass, when the doors are open, flops around.

I can see that the outside sweep seems decent but the inside is mostly gone, so I was getting ready to order the window kits from someone like Firebird Central, FWarehouse, etc.

I haven't removed the door panels, etc but thought I'd check to see what tips might be out there before starting the project.

Has anyone replaced the window sweeps or guides or anything that might cause these issues.

Thanx in advance.

I replaced the outside sweeps and the inside felt stoppers on my '71 years ago. The inner door panel hangs on three inside felt guides. They are adjustable, but they also wear down a bit over the years as well. You can remove the inner door panel and check out the inner guides. If you are close to hitting metal on the inside felt guides you need to replace them before they scratch up the glass. If there is a decent amount of felt left, you can adjust them to hold the window tighter but don't go too far or the window will be tilting out the top when it is rolled up. There are other stops and adjustments for the window as well. If the felts are toast, you should get new, then with the new stuff installed, there are enough adjustment slots, and stops to get the window to do about anything you need, I found that making many adjustments inside the car with the door shut got me closer than opening and closing the door.

Yup, change those inner guides if they are at all worn. OER makes a nice replacement.

There is a great write up on adjusting your window in the sticky of the second gen forum
is there a good post or instructions for replacing the inner sweeps? I see those are pretty much gone, though the outer are replaced already.

When I get those I'll check out everything else. Thanx.
