I have discarded most of a 1977 Firebird Formula that had a 403... I kept the Vin off of it. I was told it was illegal later to keep the Vin, but I thought if someone wanted to build a car to that spec why would it be illegal?? So anyway just wondering what everyones thoughts are?

Illegal in Canada too. BUT, I have done it a time or two LOL, and will do it again if I find a donor shell.

Consider one thing that thieves can steal a vehicle similar to someone's 77 pride and joy and then remove the vehicle's VIN Plate and chassis stamps, then add in one that's been taken from a "scrapper"....

I'm certain that that title and vin plate are never going to fall into anyone else's hands by Bryon, but what happens if he has a break-in and that vehicles I.D gets stolen? It's unlikely but cannot be ruled out.

Don't you guys have a law that says something like "if a vehicle is permanently dismantled then any registration numbers and documents must be surrendered to the local state licensing authority"?

Otherwise I don't see any harm in keeping those numbers under lock and key.

I think AUS noticed your “like“ on the thread about “car history”, which you posted just before you posted above. He also tried to help you in November of 2023 when you posted in this thread:

…… but you never responded or followed up.

The point is, you're going about this in a way that is not likely to produce any meaningful results. Best thing to do, rather than attach your search (with very limited information) onto older threads, is to start a new thread of your own, with a thread title stating your specific needs, like “Searching for my (lost?, stolen?, sold? - pick appropriate word) 1977 Formula 350”. Post it in the Second Generation….. forum. Include as much info as possible - when did this happen, where did this happen, what happened, color and condition of car, a photo. Add the specifics with the number of digits in the VIN.

I saw your first post last night and figured it wasn’t likely to get good results. Just trying to help you
