Will cutting floor for fuel pump harm value?

(sorry if this is a double post, I dont think my first one took) 2002 WS^ convert. Nice car. Daughter wants it for future. Simply--its not going to be a 'show car' but we want the value up later. Custom exhaust would have to come out to drop tank. Will cutting floor hole lower value?

From a purist's perspective, I believe the answer would be "yes." From a practical perspective, it might actually increase value.

Does a future buyer even need to know about that modification?
Ouch---Iv e done this to regular birds but not a convertible. Just popped the top to start and see the floor is totally different than a hatch--dont even know if this is possible

Unfortunately none of the photo links work after all these years. I think I remember seeing something like a metal angle piece added to the leading edge of the deck above the tank, compared to the coupe.
OK I took photos of where I 'think' it would be cut--cant tell if I should go dead center. Schematics show the tank isnt a perfect square. ALso, see little welded 'hook' thing. Wh

I have a 91 TA Vert and a 94 TA Vert....in fact, this weekend I'm going to replace the fuel pump in the 91, after just 13 years and 8000 miles. (I have all the service records from the previous owners.)

I would never think of cutting the hole. I'm too much of a purist, and my personal belief is that it devalues the car, and may remove some strength from the trunk pan.

I'm 69, and from the videos I've watched, this is just simple, routine "nut and bolt" work, and I don't see it taking me more than about 2 hours or so to get the tank out.

If you do decide to do it, when cutting the hole, make sure the corners are properly radiused, so as not to promote and/or induce cracks from vibration, and fit the hole with one of those pretty trap doors with seal tape they sell on Ebay and other places.
See arrows. these channels are exact from left to right on floor---dont know if the tanks pump hole is dead center or not and see the little welded loop--whtsup w dat?

I turn 69 in July. Yeah Ive done these to 3 other hatchbacks and made a nice hinged trap w rubber edges but the convertible has me stumped, its a 2002 with plastic tank and the tank isnt perfectly square in the frame like the older metal ones. Im not sure where to cut. Car was bought with a $1200 aftermarket exhaust that would take many dollars to take apart to get tank out
This thread covers the later models with the larger plastic tank. It's for a coupe, but note that the pump is closer to the edge.
