I’m looking for info or a starting point to start research on switching out 3.4engine for something with bolt on upgrades. Maybe 3.8 turbo charged. What engine can I use that will fit 95 firebird. Where do I start. What engine do I start looking at? Need info asap!

There are more threads on swapping V8 engines into V6 cars on this site than I can count. Have you tried searching the forum yet?

For what you're going to end up paying for a 3.8 swap and turbo install, you would be better off dropping an LT or LS in there. A turbo isn't a simple bolt on either. If you're set on throwing a 3.8 in there, look for a factory supercharged 3.8 out of a Pontiac Grand Prix GTP. You can throw some headers on, get a smaller pulley on the supercharger and a tune and you'll be sitting nice. Again though, the money there would get you an LT1 at least.

I don't think the supercharged 3.8 is directly compatible as it's setup for a transverse installation in a FWD vehicle. I remember something being mentioned about it. Not an impossible swap, but certainly nowhere near as plug-and-play as an LT1/LSx swap. Do research it though before jumping in, might save you some hassle.

Unless he's interested in the 3.8L turbocharged engine used in the 1978-85 Buick Grand National / GNX (300 HP), and the 1989 Firebird Trans Am Turbo.

But, the use of the later year 3.8L has been discussed here, both turbo and S/C applications.
