Yeah, you could say that. Little bit more car than my V6. lol

My mechanic says it should swap over pretty painlessly since it's an L98 and the exact same year. Picked up that car for $1900. Had to drive 3.5 hrs to get it, but it drove back with no problems.

Thanks again for all the help!

got the Camaro back after the transmission rebuild. putting some miles on it now.

I have another question. Now that you know what I'm looking for (sound and 0-60 speed), what would be the best gear ratio to put in the firebird when we swap?

I've read anything from 3.40s to 4.10...this seems like a total matter of opinion, so I want the advice of some people with experience. I will drive this on the highway (70-80mph) but it is NOT going to be a daily driver. Most of my driving is in the country (55-65mph). I'll drive it to work occasionally and just go cruising. I want that "seat of the pants" feeling.

thanks for the help!

Hello all,
I have a 2002 3.8L v6. I would like to change to an Ls, but I'm not too sure which Ls I'd go with. I was thinking about an Ls3, but I'm not too sure if I should. Also does anyone know what kind of computer system I should use? I was thinking Holley. Please let me know, thanks.

Why not use the factory GM PCM that came with engine you choose? Why go aftermarket? With the matched LS3 engine, wiring harness, and PCM the only issue will be interfacing the new engine harness with the 2002 body harness. Or verify that you can run the LS3 with a 2000-2002 LS1 F-Body PCM and harness. That would probably encounter few if any body harness interface problems. Or just get a front clip from a wrecked 2000-2002 LS1 F-Body, drop your V6 out the bottom, roll the LS1 engine, trans, harness, K-member, full suspension package under the V6 body, drop the body on it and bolt it together.

Beyond the engine, you will need a new trans (the T5 can't handle LSx power), clutch hydraulics, limited slip differential, revised fuel system, mechanical throttle actuator, etc.

Which trans should I go with? I'm more of a manual kind of guy, but I'm not sure what I should go with

Tremec T56 6-speed manual. Trans used for 1998-2002 LS1 F-Bodies.
