One of the most common questions we get from the V6ers is how to perform a V6 to V8 swap. My goal for this thread is to find as much information as I can find for our members in order to make the swap as easy as possible. In addition, if you have anything to add, please feel free to add your own information here. I would also like to keep all discussions on the v6 to v8 swap in this thread if possible. On to the links:

3.4 / 3.8 V6 to LT1 Swap Chart - This covers all the differences and what you will need to swap the 3.4 / 3.8 to an LT1.

3.4 / 3.8 V6 to LS1 Swap Chart - This covers all the differences and what you will need to swap the 3.4 / 3.8 to an LS1.

3.4L V6 to LT1 Complete Swap - This site takes you through the entire 3.4L V6 to LT1 swap, and includes a parts list and other information you will find useful.

More to come...

Is there any info and photos on swaping out a v6 for an early v8. I would like to install a 383 stroker carbureted engine. And will it bolt up to a 5 speed manual trans. I am going to make a new wiring harness for the car and put in all VDO gages. Roll cage.

I noticed on the conversion charts it has 98', 99', 00', 01', and 02' swap chart for the LS1 only but not the LT1. It this because those years won't take an LT1 engine or is there some other issue? I am asking because I have a 98 V6 and I want to put a LT1 engine in because its significantly cheaper than the LS1 but I am not sure how to go about it since the diagrams and charts don't say anything about an LT1 swap for my car. Any ideas? Thanks.

Why would you want to swap in an LT1 over an LS1? GM made alot of the mistakes on the LT1 to come up w/ the LS1, I see no point in picking the older engine over the technologically superior one. Cost may be a factor, but unless you're going to do everything yourself your savings will be eaten up by repairs and downtime common with the LT1.
