I just bought my 8th firebird... My first v6

According to the dipstick I am about a quart low. However, before I add some I want to make sure everyones late 4th gen v6 dip stick is twisted and bent...

As said in the owner's manual, 4.5 quarts. I usually just dump 5.1 quarts in but I probably shouldn't do that any more than I have. Hasn't had any side effects yet as it wasn't too much of an over fill.

Yeah....That's not a very good idea, if you continue such a trend you may have blown gaskets in your future, it is much better to be a quart lower than it is even a half a quart over factory requirements.

I would never go over factory standards, I'm sure my overfilling by (0.6) quarts of oil before contributed to my headgasket blowing on my last engine.

I was told that if I overfilled the oil, it can blow my seals and rings. That's why I pay them to change the oil. They charge 24 for everything, and it costs me 18 to do it myself, why not pay an extra 5 or 6 bucks for someone else to do it?

I change my own oil on my car, I use Mobil 1 full synthetic and a Wix filter, so it costs me 27$ just to do it myself, but I just make sure I don't overfill it when I do it.

I don't like the quick oil change places. What if they get lazy?
My trusted mechanic does my oil changes, sorry, I should have said that. I would NEVER trust my car with one of those places, like Jiffy Lube, etc
