I was doing some looking around and found this page http://www.ncpontiacs.com/ls1bird.htmlwhich suggested using a silicone paste for the weatherstripping/ttops. I was wondering if anyone here uses this on their cars and what brand they recommend. Also I wanted to know if anyone had suggestions on a cleaner/protectant for the exterior pieces of black plastic like where the windshield wipers are. If this is in the wrong section please let me know.
Your owners manual suggest treating the T-top seals on a regular basis. I don't remember what product they recommend off the top of my head, but the purpose is to keep the seals from drying out, which prevents leaks.
What brand do you use sea dog? I have never treated seals on a car before so I would like to go with something that is endorsed by someone. I just don't want to have to replace seals.
I use whatever brand of dot 5 silicon brake fluid that parts store has. It won't hurt your paintwork if you get some on it. It keeps weather stripping in good shape if you use it 2 or 3 times a year.
Awesome, Sorry for all the questions but I've never had a car that required this kind of attention and I would hate to waste effort and money by buying/using the wrong product(s). I was/am a honda owner and all I used to do with that was change the oil and fix the occasional thing that would go wrong (which wasn't often). Speaking of oil changes I'm fixin to do my first oil change and I've always had good luck with Mobil 1, I had a buddy who is also a mechanic tell me that I should use royal purple though. I'm sure this has been beaten to death, I even found this http://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/c5-tech/2811969-lab-results-in-mobil1-vs-royal-purple.htmlanyone have any thoughts? I still really like mobile 1 because it's worked well for me but if something else is better for my bird I can go with that instead.
Think of moving to the ls1 4th gen as a move to a race horse after having a plow horse. Or dating a super model instead of plain Jane.. All these require much more attention to keep them happy
