i've got a pro 5.0 shifter on my t-56. does anybody know the thread size on that shaft. also, does lou's short stick have the same size thread? i'm thinking it does. but i want to know what size thread so i can figure out what shift knob i want. i love the classic white ball shifters. got a hammerhead now, kinda getting tired of it.

I've got the B&M Sport shifter and I'm pretty sure all the shaft sizes are the same as stock. It doesn't really matter though, most knobs come with thread adapters to fit popular sizes.
I had a Hurst hammerhead for a long time. My friend bought me a Hurst pistol grip for my B-day.
Here's a pic of it.

I like it alot. When I have ahold of it, it feels like I could break the shaft in two. It makes a good weapon too. LMAO

yeah i thought about a pistol grip. i'm sure they are comfortable to use but i want something as low as possible to get a shorter shift. if i got a pistol grip i'd prob get lazy and just rest my hand on the top and shift it like that. i bet it makes u feel like ur drivin an old hemi with the pistol grip though

The Pro 5.0 stick has the same 16mm-1.5 threads as the stock shifter.

I wish they made those back when my car still had the T56 in it! Looks good. I'd like to see a photo of it on the shifter.

If you want a shorter stick on the Pro 5.0, you can cut at least an inch off the top of the stick, and still have enough threads to put the knob on. I did that with my Pro 5.0. Thread a nut on the shaft before you cut it, so the threads will clean up when you unscrew the nut.

I also found with the 5.0 that the bolts that hold the stick to the shifter would always vibrate loose. I ended up putting longer bolts in and double-nutting them.

i have already cut a little off the top of the shifter stick. made a pretty big difference actually. i've also heard of a shift stick called "lou's short stick." i heard its really nice and makes for great shifter location and nice short throws? anyone ever used one of these? i'd like to get one if anyone has one for sale even.

My original shifter was a Hurst Comp+. I had Lou Salzano's Short Stick on it. I Found it was as short as it could possibly be, and still put the knob above the console. He has a picture of mine on his webstie:

I know he made one for the Pro 5.0 I don't even know if he is still in business, but here is his website:

At one point. I installed a line lock, and put the trigger switch on my shifter. It was too deap down in the console and hard to use. That's when I switched to the Pro 5.0, because it was a better shifter and had a longer stick.

heres a pic of the new shifter installed. i like it alot, and it lowers the shifter down cause the threads go pretty deep into the knob.
