I have a Generation 2 Trans Am, a 1978 model.

Will Generation 3 or 4 seat rails fit into the factory bolt holes for the seat rails in my 1978 model?

Thanks

Pretty sure GM changed the bolt hole locations when going from 2nd gen to 3rd gen. 4th gen same as 3rd.

But if your good at adapting, there's no reason why you can't put 3rd or 4th gen seats in your 2nd gen.

You would either have to adapt the 2nd gen seat tracks to your 3rd or 4th gen seats. The tracks bolt on to bottom of seat frame.

Or you could weld in new bolts to floor pan to accommodate the 3rd or 4th gen seats.

I installed seats on my 90 that came out of a completely different make. They look similar to 3rd gen seats but were made with much better fabric. I adapted the 3rd gen seat tracks to the other brand seats.
