Hello,
I have a 1968 Firebird conv. not numbers matching. It has functional ram air with stock intake, Quadrajet and mechanical fuel pump.
Car was restored 15 years ago and I'm tired of chasing fuel problems with todays gas.
Am considering switching to a holly sniper 2 EFI system and wondered if anyone here has done that switch?
Would like to know if I could use my stock intake and ram air pan/filter or if a new intake is requied? Also, where did you mount the computer screen?

Thank you!

Holley can answer most of your questions, it might take a few days for them to respond. They have a spread bore Sniper unit. I have a new Sniper 2 that I'm installing as we speak. Its a square bore unit that fits on an Edelbrock Performer RPM air gap intake. I will not mount the handheld monitor. I keep it next to the console near the passenger seat. Once its running good, you dont have to look at it much. It takes a new high pressure fuel pump (60psi) I put in a new gas tank with pump inside. You can run an inline fuel pump and keep your tank. It comes with an o2 sensor that can be welded in or clamped on. There are holley sniper facebook sites to join. They can answer your questions right away, they are very helpful. The throttle response is amazing and instant. The facebook guys can help you dial in in too.

I have had good luck with Shell 93 in my car. Even sat from end of november (I broke my toy) till end of this September before being started to get on trailer to bring to the shop. No issues. Car drinks through a Holley carb and runs exactly the same. Perhaps you really have carb tuning issues. But I get it. Lack of carb tuners makes the EFI a great alternative. Good luck.

I recently installed a sniper unit on a customers 454. The install is easy. The initial setup is simple if you have a basic understanding of your engine. The basic tuning is self learning but the start up tuning is on you. Especiallythe cold start. It's time consuming but not hard. I'll look for a link for a good write up on it.

If you're talking to Holly, ask them about the Terminator set up. I had that installed on my 78 TA 400. Shop owner has had better luck with Terminator over Sniper. The computer module is not installed in the throttle body, it's remote which apparently prevents some of the Sniper issues.

Thanks for the replies all.
Decided to go with a sniper 1 and in-tank pump. The Holley tech I spoke to wasn't sure if the ram air pan would clear or not.
There is a foam cushion that seals the pan to the hood, so I'll have a little playing around, but am thinking it will fit. Also, I wont have to change out my stock intake or add an adapter plate with the sniper 1. Which would be needed with the 2.
