Hi guys- I have a 69 convertible with a tired 400 from a 68. The engine runs pretty well but the car has no "oomph" for lack of a better term, haha.
I found a reputable rebuilder over in Tampa that will do the following build including removal, reman, and reinstall, soup to nuts, for about $4300
"upgraded camshaft, lifters, valve springs and street performance balancing. Camshaft spec's are power band 1000rpm to 5200rpm, duration 251/268, @.050" 212/218, valve lift w/ 1.5 rockers 447/455. Pistons Speed Pro flat top w/ 4 valve reliefs C.R. 9.2 to 1."
He would be using the existing 9x heads on the engine.
my goals are to have a reliable street engine that runs on 89-91 octane and has no problems with ethanol blends, but has plenty of torque off the line and is fun to drive around town (can light 'em up when I want). I have a TH350 with stock converter and a ten-bolt 3.08 rear.
any advice and feedback is appreciated!!!
thanks,
Toby
