Some people say that Mobil one in an engine will experience some oil usage. I used it in my 5.3 Silverado (09) and it was the only time that engine used some oil. Switched back to my normal synthetic and no more usage. So, in my case it was true. That was a long time ago and I'm sure that has changed. My 02 T/A and my 2017 Silverado both get Pennzoil ultra platinum and a Wix filters. My new Chevy Trax gets Pennzoil Platinum, dexos approved while under its warranty. My SBC 406 in my 78 T/A has had Brad Penn oil previously and it was good stuff. Last 8 years has been Valvoline VR-1 conventional oil. I didnt know they made it in a synthetic version until my last oil change.

I've used Wix filters and or Napa Gold. Mostly napa because of a close location. They were one and the same but not anymore. Napa filters are now being made china. Premium Guard it the new brand. I cant find any tests on it or micron ratings for it, so I'm done with napa. Filters I'm now considering are the Purolator Boss, K&N, or Wix. Kinda of a dirty trick to change and not tell people. They did this change Sept 2023.
