I believe the 85-90 had a small "Pontiac" badge on the grille inset right below the left headlamp door, and not embossed on the headlamp door itself like our 91s.

 

On my 1986 Firebird headlight doors the Pontiac emblem is on the insert attached to the bottom side of the driver side door. and nothing on the passenger side.

Chrome is failing on my emblem. Anyone know of a good way to fix this green oxidization?

remove the emblem, send it out to be rechromed.
a part that small id guess to be around $120
it'll be perfect and probably the best thing you can do

 

Why don't you just have someone 3D print one for you in "plastichrome?"

 

Well, I thought I would give the Pontiac emblem restoration a try and here are the results.

Start condition.

Surface sanded with 1200 grit and wire wheeled with a 1" diameter wire wheel on a Dremel tool.

Painted black

Masked.

Painted Chrome.

Installed.

The finish of the chrome paint ended up being flat instead of glossy but with the grey color of the car I think it will be OK for this application. Although certainly better than it was, I was disappointed the finish wasn't brighter.
