I’m buying new wheels for the Firebird and have a set of Mickey Thompson sportsman S/T 215/70R15 tires would they fit 16x8 wheels without looking stupid

You can’t mount 15” tires on a 16” wheel.

Unless purchasing specifically, the 16" rims are often a different offset from later models too. And the 16" tyre range is fast disappearing in performance sizes.

Plus… the Mickey Thompson fitment chart for that tire, in that size, indicates the widest acceptable wheel width is 7”.
