I have a 2000 Firebird 3.8 and three morning ago I start it the car and the motors lifters are all knocking real bad. I checked my oil gauge and it shows reading of 38 psi. at idle down to where it usually read around 60psi. Within a few mins. it started to warm up and quiet down to where I could hear nothing and was running smoothly. but oil gauge still reading low. I did research on my car and found out is does not have a pump but gears behind the oil filer with a pick up tube in the oil pan. My question is, is this information correct and has anyone else ever had this problem? Do you think it is the gears or the pickup tube? Also everyone is telling my I have to raise my motor to get the oil pan off. Please tell me this is not correct!!! Thank you for any help, and your time.
