Would like to keep my Trans Am stock as much as possible. Monsoon stereos kind of iffy would you replace it with another monsoon stereo or go after market?

I always liked the Delco / Monsoon head unit. If you want to stay stock then I would grab a nice one off of ebay.
Yeah that’s what I was leaning. And it’s cool popping an old cd in. But the display is inop and buttons are super sensitive. and maybe update some of the speakers while keeping its stock looking. Thank you

The display unit is relatively easy to fix, depending on your level of skill. The inoperative condition is almost always caused by a burned out bulb that shines through the display, which is LCD. There is a post on this forum that describes the steps for repairing the condition if you're interested. In the alternative, there are plenty of places that can refurbish your existing radio for you.

When you say your buttons are "sensitive," can you be more specific?

I'm always one to prefer the stock look and function of the Delco radios. :)

Thanks for asking, you would turn the volume up and it’s instant as loud as it can get but then you go to turn it down and it takes forever to turn down. It appears at all the buttons are like that lightning fast initially then dead slow bringing them down

That's most likely caused by a bad potentiometer in the rotary knob assembly. It's a common problem with that generation of radios. Something else that a refurbishing can fix.

I've had several radios repaired by this business. They're located in Saginaw, Michigan. They do excellent work and they are very fast in their turnaround:
