hello!. I am new to this site. I am currently looking at a 1979 firebird with a 301 and automatic transmission. This car is in really good shape.

I have been following comments on this site with a lot of interest. While I understand that the 301 is low in horsepower and swaps are encouraged, the journey involved can be frustrating with regards to having all the brackets and what not, in order to get the swap completed. I am referring to a 400 cu in pontiac motor with no brackets.

It makes me nervous not knowing if I could get the job done. It is a beautiful car and I like to plan a project with it. Just not sure how available parts will be to complete this project. I also would like to put a shaker on it with a new paint job and suspension upgrade. I also realize that I might have to live with current 301.

Please help with any resources.

Welcome to the forum.

My suggestion would be to find nice condition with the 400 or 455 engine already in the car.
