Hi guys -

I am converting my 69 firebird over to a 4 speed from a TH400..

My friend has a bellhousing and flywheel froma 73 - 400 motor. He wants me to use them. I have no issues with the bellhousing, but should I be afraid of using the flywheel?? Do I need to have it resrfaced?

I appreciate your input.

Thanks

I would consider using it if it does not look like it has "spider web" cracks from heat, and the teeth around it are in good shape, and you want a stock weight flywheel. Also, the hole in the center has to match the back of the crank. I think Pontiac changed from a 10.5 to an 11 inch clutch somewhere in the mid '70's and the flange on the back of the crank changed as well.
