Is there a check that you can do to see if your cat is plugged?
sometimes my car does the same but if i give her a lil jump they will go higher than 3000

yea, use a backpressure guage, my engine is actully building up pounds of pressure cause the cat is clogged, lol, my car is not driveable until i get it fixed..

oh and i was looking at this back pressure guage and it reads 0-8 psi, whats average psi?
and it says that it plugs into an o2 sensor hole (or whatever the technical term for hole is)
which 02 sensor do i use? the one before or after the cat? or both? help please

I am not sure of the pressure, but you definitely want to use the 02 sensor before the cat.

it should not exceed 1.25 psi at 2500 rpms (correct me if im wrong), and like bob said, use the front one, if you think about it, using the back one makes no sense at all, the psi in my car is 8.1 psi at 2500 rpms, thats really bad, and my pcm says my cats junk too, but if you have a high psi of backpressure, dont assume its a bad cat right away, it could possibly be a collapsed pipe or your muffler, and look into a backpressure gauge that reads 8-10 psi, so you know what your looking at. also, im pretty sure misfires are what caused my cat to get clogged. because my car misfires in the rain. i need to get the wires replaced...
