How do I replace a 'theft proof' radio in a 2002 bird?

Lights quit working on my radio so I found a same stock radio out of a wrecked bird that only had 13,000 miles on it. Got the radio for 5 bucks but then someone said you cantjust take the original out and swap. Some code or somethjing has to be done?

Itys a 2002. I just got the replacement radio out of a junker in a wrecking yard. Have not touched anything yet pending finding out what to do.

Well...it may be useless. Think I just blew something in the engine. See my thread about the temp guage stopping and the fans staying on. Something else just heppened
