LMAO ALL muscle cars back in tha day had V8s wise guy. my grandfathers '69 had a 350 till 90,000 then it was replaced by a custom 400 topped with headers. Iseen the original engine myself, EIGHT CYLINDERS. John Delorean was a nutjob. his car was wack. BTW im talkin bout a 3.4, not a 3.8
And speaking of Buicks, my cousin has a '65 Riviera with a 450 big block.
this guy is a major douche bag.

hey btw... with the minimum amount of mods i have on my Camaro... which btw, is a 2.8L v6...

i managed to beat my friends car that has a 454 big block.

i beat him off the line and got over halfway before he caught up.

its not all about the size of the engine.

its what you can do to that engine and how well you handle it.

id take you any day.

Sort of sad to review the really stupid comments made by the two guys who didn't like 6-cyl engines, and didn't seem to even believe that GM has put a 6-cyl engine in the Firebird as long as they've been making them. Fortunately, neither of those two morons even came back to the site after their posts in this thread. Good riddance.

You don't need to get an F-Body to come back. You are always welcome here, no matter what you are driving. As long as that Firebird spark still burns......

Amen to that, Fred. Bet those guys would really have a fit if they knew the early 3rd Gen fleet cars came with I-4's. I remember driving an '83 Camaro rental from St. Louis to Chicago and back... talk about something floating in the punchbowl! And Dave, you're free to hang out here anytime you want to.

Sounds like there was a few "genius" on this thread before I came into it. You are not forced to have a firebird to be able to join this thread. NO ONE can force you to own said car.
Read through here and laughed at some of the comments that were made. As stated above, feel free to come back and visit as long as the firebird spark still burns...........

Appreciate that!!!!! The F-Body still amazes me to this day. Great design.

with the V6's in today's Camaro putting out 30 to 60 more HP than an LT1, I think the V6/V8 discussion is dead... I'm a big fan of the saying: there's no replacement for displacement, but, dang, exceeding 1HP per CI on the modern V6 without forced induction is impressive to say the least and it deserves recognition.I also feel the V8/6spd F-body was a supercar within it's own right, it checked all the boxes: heavy steering and clutch, obnoxious but sweet sounding exhaust, 165mph, and if you don't respect it's power it'll kill you *snaps* just like that...That said, refer to the v6/i4's as sports cars, not muscle cars and there's no fighting

It wasn't that it wasn't reliable, it was very reliable. Hell that engine very rarely gave me a problem, but driving an F-Body in snow is a nightmare. Did it once and I almost thought I was gonna die.
I drive my Fbody in the snow! you can't park on any inclines, or attempt to slowly go up a hill, but hey! Just keep it moving, and get some all season tires.

mine has survived two of the most brutal NY winters I've ever experienced since I got her; she's great in the snow, but I draw the line when there's ice on the ground - cars and zambonis are two entirely different animals.

Fred's comment is spot on - I still get the disgusted stares/comments/what-have-you from hardcore "LS Mafia" types who fail to understand that not only were there v6 birds back in the beginning, but the Trans Am was born 2 years after the Firebird. Their ignorance is astonishing.
Most people I meet actually love my car - it reminds them of the bird they "never should have sold, damnit!!!"

My philosophy is, we all love the same car - we just like different flavors.
