While it was tough for me to get rid of it, I had to be practical as I needed something more reliable in the winter. I'm hoping whoever the new owner is will take great care of it. Anyways FireBird nation has been a great resource. Thanks Everyone!

3800 wasnt reliable enough? To get a more reliable car mechanically he must have not got a domestic.

None the less good luck with your new ride....hopefully its not a kia.

Sorry to hear Dave. What did you end up getting?
Thanks Everyone!!!! Don't shoot me, but I picked up a Nissan Frontier pickup. Being in New England, the winters can be tough up here. I wanted to get something with 4 wheel drive and the deal was just to good to pass up. I had a company vehicle at my previous job, so I was able to keep my bird garaged and out of the elements. I did stop by the dealership today that took it in and had one last look. I still to this day marvel at it's beauty. If it was a V8 I would of kept it for sure. Maybe down the road I'll pick up a used Trans Am if I get a house with a double garage. No more V6's! The 3.8 liter V6 treated me good, but I definitely longed for the brute force the V8s where known for.

It wasn't that it wasn't reliable, it was very reliable. Hell that engine very rarely gave me a problem, but driving an F-Body in snow is a nightmare. Did it once and I almost thought I was gonna die.

Not a bad pick up

And yea, I live in MA and drive my firebird in the winter. The posi sure does help, but over 5 inches of snow and i start just bottoming out and riding up on it haha....still amke it to school and work no problem though. I used summer tires last winter too. These cars arent bad in the winter with a posi. Good choice though, drive tht frontier for a while and then pick up a v8!!

Yeah I'm thinking I might buy a V8 Tran Am in a few years, but I would like to have a two garage before making such a purchase.

Do you have a beater for the winter or do you drive your bird all winter long?
yea, i did drive my bird until we got a 2 1/2 foot snowfall, my car was buried in snow, i woke up and couldnt even see it one morning, so i ended up picking up a 1993 escort 5-speed wagon, for 500$, very reliable car, and better for winter, my link kit also busted from driving it one winter, and that pretty much convinced me to buy a beater.

Thats good. Your truck will get you thru the snow easily. A V6 is nuthin to trip on. Pontiac was dumb to put those poopy engines in there. Formula,WS6 or Trans Am is where the real deal is.

Just because you sold your bird doesn't' mean you have to leave the site.

Also Firebird arent' that bad in the snow. I've driving an 86 Camaro 2.8 5 speed, 87 Firebird 2.8 auto, and 92 5.0 auto and only got stuck with the Camaro 2 times. Hell 2 winters ago I was out doing doughnuts in the parking lots and laughed at my buddy cuse he got his snow mobile stuck on a trail that winter and I never once had a problem. I don't know how bad the winters are for you, but their pretty bad here in Michigan.

thats the most arrogant remark I've seen on this site....

Should every brand stop carrying a smaller engine and only sell the biggest engine possible? I guess everyone who wanted a firebird wanted to drive around on 93 octane. A mentality like that is a reason people don't buy pontiacs or american cars in general. Way to fill out the sterotype. the 3.8 is a proven engine, that is reliable, well built, and a perfect engine for the lower model f-bodys.

Formula, ws6, trans am is where the real deal is? ws6 is a tran am, just with a couple more options, so which one is the "real deal"???? edit your post to this "ls1 is where the real powers at"......that would be more approriate.

Have to agree the 3.8 is a great motor. I don't even think there is much of a HP difference between it and say the 5.0. I had many 5.0 American cars with only 175ish HP, the 3.8 would blow it away these days. My truck is a 4.3 (350 with 2 cylinders lopped off) and it has WAY more acceleration than any of my old cars did (it's not even vortec or multiport, just TB). It also spins the tires off the line and rips second gear, all stock (200k miles). I imagine a 3.8 T/A would be pretty similar
Back in the day my friend had a 2.8 MPFI Camaro and it was faster all the way around than my 5.0 Grand Prix LOL We had more fun with that Camaro than any car either of us have ever owned before or since
It did have some strange computer problem where it was forever stuck in limp-in mode that seemed to make it go faster for some reason.

Thanks!!!! Actually I still enjoy visiting the site, and I will be honest I am kind of missing my bird. Who knows? Maybe down the road I'll look into getting another bird, but of course it will be V8.

I bet you will. I always regretted selling my Iroc, and now I bought a 79 T/A. Sometimes you just fall into the right car at the right time
