Hi, so this morning my front left speaker completely stopped working without giving any signs of blowing, so I took everything apart today and got the main speaker to work, but any time I plug in the tweeter the woofer stops working again. Does this mean I have a bad tweeter? Or do I have to replace the entire main speaker (woofer)? I have it running with the tweeter unplugged, and it works, but it just sounds off balanced so I'd like to get it fixed soon. Any help is great, thanks! [emoji846]

Do you have either the W54 or W55 option? If so, it should be listed on the sticker on the driver side door. In that case, it appears that the tweeter is shorted, since the signal to that pair of wires also goes to the amplifier and then to the mid-range speaker in the door.

It might. That is what I would do. Fortunately, the original equipment tweeters are still available, if that matters to you.

Best option by far. Next step would be trying to find an exact fit with the proper resistance (Ohms). Factory speakers seem to be just a little off of "standard" measurements. I know some auto stores like AutoZone sell "factory replacement" speakers of the proper size, or more specifically, bolt pattern, but I'm not sure if I've seen tweeters. I've always had to replace Ford 5x7's. My '93 T/A is still on its factory drivers and I've been running 175w to each of them for the last 14 years. Decent speakers in my opinion. :)

If the factory tweeters are 2-Ohm, be sure to get a 2-Ohm replacement. That's the most important bit. Matching the resistance.

When you plug in the tweeter, does the tweeter work? It's not clear from your original post. Also, when you say, "so I took everything apart today and got the main speaker to work," what did you do to get the speaker working again?
