First, it would help to know exactly which year, model and motor your vehicle has.

You don't have to find the GM "part numbered" vacuum lines, rubber vacuum hose of the correct ID works fine.
Why not repair it properly?
And yes, to extinguish the light, it would have to be tuned out.

Just as a side note, Brian Harris Tuning will be tuning the EGR out of my 91 in the spring, as I occasionally get a light in warmer weather. I don't know if he does 4th Gens, but you could ask...
