I was just noticing that there seems to be a lot of Firebird owners right here in the Chicagoland area. I took liberty of sending friend request to all members of FBN from the Chicagoland area. I have been on this site for 15mos, and never has it been this many active people in our area. I have met Bobby (phonetek), and purchased a shifter for my 73 from him. This was so much easier than dealing with someone on ebay, we just met in a Sam's Club parking lot and made the transaction ! This site made that happen. I think for those Chicagoans still building our Birds, networking with other members on this site can really help and save time. We can always set-up a ILL Chapter as well. We just need someone to lead the way ! I started this thread, and I basically have rounded all you guy up. So if anybody wants to see who out there in our area just check my friend list, and If I dont have you in there, go ahead and send a request to me. Maybe this will get a ILL FBN Chapter going. If nothing else we can help each other find parts, build, maintain, our Firebirds.

I keep envisioning a bunch of Firebirds gathered at Route 66 in Joliet or at one of the Indiana tracks. I encourage Northwest Indiana folks to respond as well as, those Cheese Heads up north ! We can probably pull something like this off, and have a real nice time. But we will need at least 8 people. Some come on folks lets network, and see what positives come out of it.

We just had a little caravan of f bodies that ripped to Gus's in East Troy Wisconsin and back. That was a gas and more activities like that are needed beside car shows and cruise nights. Having a network for scheduling and trading parts and services is a great idea. I feel there are more then enough owners and interest I guess its all down to getting something organized in the local area. What is the next step?

With the Uprising around the corner maybe thats where the first pre-meet and greet should take place to get the ball rolling?

I think i've seen your car! I remember seeing a 67/68 Firebird on my way home from work all the time when i used to live in Elk Grove. I used to take 83 North from Elmhurst. That was maybe 6 years ago.

Anyway, it would be cool if a cruise was set up. I would love to go on an all firebird cruise. I've been wanting to hit up the new Pontiac museum in Pontiac, IL and they have a cruise night on Saturday, Aug. 20. Maybe something can be set up for then. Just think how cool it would be for all us firebirds to be cruising down 55 and pulling into Pontiac together. I was thinking of maybe heading down there early too see all the museums before the car show starts at 5 pm.

Here is a link to the site with all the information. http://www.pontiaccr...ight.com/events

Let me know if this would be of interest to anyone.
