Fellow igloo dwellers.

I've pretty much exhausted all the refurbishing work in the Formula. I'm now going to have to begin ordering parts, likely from the US. I have called a couple places, and they have stated they will not use usps to ship.

What have your experiences been bringing things in from the US? Does UPS ding us as bad for the duty and junk as they do for other stuff? I know the wife ordered something once, it was like 200 dollars, shipping was 30 or 40, and the bloody duty came to 75. I don't want that to happen when I'm ordering up small screws and trim.

I can't go to Ship Happens.... well I just can't.

Any thoughts or suppliers willing to ship via mail are appreciated.

The customs charges are all related to what country the part was made. If it is 100% made in US then there should be no customs charges. Unfortunately many parts are not made in the US and therefore you have duty charges. It should not matter if it was shipped UPS or USPS, the paperwork should be the same in order to ship from US to Canada. Possibly UPS has other charges not related to actual customs.

We would be willing to ship USPS for you if you prefer that method. You can visit our Vendor Forum from the home page or go directly to our store at www.eagarage.ecrater.com to see what you need. We will have to re-price everything because the prices on our store reflect free freight only to US customers.

I would say for me anything I need from this point I would try and support Erwin here at EA Garage.
Its very cool of them to be part of the site and building a relationship is very important in the long run.
I'm sure that if we do our part to support them they will do their part for us.
Just the fact that Erwin is being part of FBN goes a long way for me.

I bought some wheel skins for my Dakota last year, off of 'fleabay', that were advertised as US made.
Turn's out they were made in Korea, and I got dinged for $97.00 in Brokerage Fees and $40.00 in duty and tax.

The $75.00 skins ended costing lots

With UPS, It don;t matter where the item was made. They charge the Brokerage anyways. DUTY is a small fee compared to UPS's Brokerage fee. Brokerage is a fee they are allowed to charge for allowing entry into canada. Has nothing to do with taxes due, duty's etc. When you ship something Postal to Canada, the Canadian Government only charges us $5 Brokerage. BUT, Couriers, UPS FedEx they are allowed to charge WHATEVER they want, and they charge based on Item dollar value. it's freakin BS. I have fought, and fought with UPS. Heck they charge me Brokerage on someones parts I powdercoat and ship back. OH, they don;t charge Brokerage going from Can to US, but they do from US to Can!!!

E&A's Garage is in Woodbury MN. I speak from experience in dealing with this company and the owner, Erwin that their level of service and quality is top notch.
I would actually pay more to support this FBN vendor for the same products as I appreciate their honesty and help that goes above and beyond excellent customer service.

Where are the venders located Bob?
Hi Todd,

Let me know what you are looking for and I'll see what we can do. Depending on the items we may be able to ship via US Postal Service so you will avoid the extra UPS charges.

Thanks for the kind words Pete!!

Erwin
