The bluebird was a late 2nd gen model. It is fairly rare, but not expensive. There were also red bird and yellow bird editions, if memory serves me correctly.

I think they originally planned a “Bluebird“ edition, but when they released it in 1977 it was called the “Skybird”. It was an appearance package on the Esprit. Another manufacturer had apparently used the Bluebird name.

Is there anything different on the Bird editions, other than appearance?

The writeup I have in the “Firebird Red Book” mentions only appearance items - 2-tone blue paint, canopy stripes, blue painted grille liners, taillight bezels, and blue snowflake wheels. Plus a blue colored Formula steering wheel. Over the following years there were Red Bird and Yellow Bird options.
