Ported stock heads, or ported select aftermarket, done by one of these:

Also good - Find a set of unmolested LT4 heads and intake, have the above port them. That's what I did, had them ported by CNC Cylinder Heads in Pinellas, FL. But that was 23 years ago. CNC is no longer in business, but LE or AI can make them perform.

Avoid Edelbrock heads and intake.

Have the intake ported as well, buy heads and cam as a “matched” package, depending on your emissions and drivability requirements.

Not sure, but I doubt GM is still making the LT4 heads and intake. I bought mine in 1999. Look on eBay, see if one of the head shops has cores available. Couple years ago there was a set of LT4 heads, intake, injectors, and throttle body combo for sale on a Corvette website for ~$2,000. You have to use the LT4 intake with the LT4 heads.

There are aftermarket heads like Trick Flow and AFR. But they need additional work to make them worth the price. Canfield also made LT1 heads, buddy of mine made 1,125 HP at the flywheel with a ported set of Canfields and a huge Vortech S/C. 4,000# 1997 30th Anniversary Camaro SS convertible ran 9.05 @ 156 MPH. Only find those used, and very rare.

Only installed in 1996 Corvette manual transmission models, about 100 1997 Camaro SS, and 29 Firebird Firehawks. Not likely to find one in a junk yard. But the head and intake part #’s, plus some photos are included here:
