The T5 out of the 3.4L V6 can't handle the torque of the LT1 V8. It will destroy it. You need to find a T56 out of a 94-97 V8 Firebird or Camaro. Plus flywheel, bell housing, clutch hydraulics, clutch fork (becoming impossible to find), pedal assembly, cross-member, shifter and console. Then you have to rewire the trans harness and starter circuit, and have the PCM reflashed with a manual trans program. Then you won't be happy with the rear gears in you auto trans car (2.73, or 3.23:1), so you will want to swap in the 3.42 gears that were used with the T56, or even a set of 3.73's.
