Hi, first post here. I'm in the beginning stages of detailing and restoring my 74 455 Trans Am. This my first Trans Am and first classic Pontiac. I've been a long time Oldsmobile guy with a lot of experience with the Cutlass and 442 cars. I've been a long time admirer of the 2nd gen Trans Am and was initially looking for a 73 T/A but the cost of a car in decent condition forced me to look at other years. I bought my 74 because it is a factory 455 car and the 74 has some some carry over items from the earlier cars that I like. The car was already "hot rodded" so I don't feel any particular need to restore it to original condition. And, it was half the cost of a 73 T/A.
I'm 60 years old and I have another car to do after this one so I'm going to focus on an every-man detail and restoration of the car and try to get it completed over the next couple years. I'm going to use a lot of spray paint to detail it, and I think a guy can get nice results that will look great to the weekend car show crowd without buying a lot of expensive equipment and materials. I know I'm going to need help along the way from people more knowledgeable about these cars. My car has a list of issues to fix and I'll try to attack them one at a time as I move through the car, I hope you guys will help me out when I get stuck.
Here are a couple videos that I've done so far. I will probably use the slideshow format for most of what I have planned, it's easy for me to document the car that way. I'm looking forward to feedback and opinions.
Thanks!
Steve
