Just saw this ad for a YS code '72 400, complete carb to pan for $750. It has the desirable 481988 block. So, it should be good either for a strong 400 or stroker build. If all the parts are original, it will also have the good, one year only, intake, which will work with all the '72-up heads, but doesn't have the EGR.

The only downside I can think of is that the 7K3 heads have no end exhaust manifold bolt holes. But, they can be used, and are otherwise good heads, especially for a stroker build. :smile22:

Also just saw that these '71 455HO Round Port heads are down to $2000. That's cheaper than alum heads. If these are good rebuildable heads, you probably won't find any cheaper.

These would make good pump gas heads for a 455 or bigger engine. And you'd have genuine round port Pontiac heads.

Below is how they should look. I think they came without the holes next to the end, drilled. Those in the 2nd pic have been drilled. Those in the bottom pic have not. To use headers, these holes must be added.
