ok so finally after buying up 4 engines i settled with a TBI 92 350 4bolt. from a chevy van. will convert to 4b carb. and i think im going to keep the serp. belt rather then a V-belt.
cyl. walls have no scars. no spun bearings on mains nor rods. but i have the block and heads sitting in a 50 gal. drum of degreaser at the moment. so while it soaks i have been wondering,
will this van oil pan fit in my 86 T/A ? and also a set of "block hugger" headers came up on the market along with an RPM edelbrock intake. will the headers fit in with little to no issue? any other info you guys know of that i may encounter upon rebuild/install would be much appreciated. save me a few headaches and pains

If you plan on keeping it carb, what heads do you have in the degreaser? I ask because you need a set of pre 86 heads to use so the intake will bolt up. 993's or 882's are common chevy heads that are good for the tbi to carb swap. Use the pan that came with the block, you might have to find an approprate dipstick though. Good luck on your swap

have you ever made brownies? funny question but heres the visual, imagine taking brownie mix, and pouring it all throughout the heads, and valley. thats what this thing looked like, i had to dig into the sludge to find the bolts to remove the heads. so i cant give any numbers as i couldnt see anything. but in a day or 2 i plan to pull'em out and power wash then blow them dry w/ leaf blower, then lube. but thanks for that tip on head swap for tbi-carb. ill look into that ASAP.
