Well as I just recently joined FBN I have been looking into information about my recent acquisition of my 1997 formula 6 speed V8.

I'm looking for someone who is very knowledgeable about this specific model.

Have a few questions concerning the trans as well as how this specific 6 speed should be functioning in certain situations.

Also I'm looking for a website where I can find detailed diagrams of the engine & underbelly of my pretty lady as I'm looking at doing some custom work on her myself. If you know where I can find either of those don't be shy!

And..for all those that asked I'm working on pictures atm...having trouble finding the digital camera =x

Well my first questions are, should I or should I not stick with the stock 6 speed transmission (manual) I'm looking for raw horsepower for more street racing/driving then I would be for track times or just casual cruising.

My second question is If I do or not stick with this specific transmission what can I do to increase horsepower in the later shifts I.E. 2>3 3>4 4>5 Shifting 1>2 or even 1>3 Doesn't seem to give me a problem because simply knowing the correct clutch/gas balance I can 5 or 6 rpms and quickshift to second or third for a quick burst...but I still need that raw burst and power from the later shifts which doesn't seem to be their with a formula or I should say at least not yet.

My third question is how important is ramair & or cold air injection I know that more air to the engine means a more powerful explosion which obviously means more of kick however what order should I be doing these things in, I wouldn't want the engine running without the proper cams, headers & pistons and trying to push too much horsepower and blow the block or possibly tranny.

My fourth question is drive train, the stock drive train is simply too shaky for the kind of 110-130 speeds im looking for and looking to get there quick. I'm assuming i'm going to need to fix it if not install a new one what are your suggestions?

My last question for now would be exhaust this is something simple but adds alot to your firebird as i'm sure you all know. I was looking at Borla and Flowmaster i'm looking for that clean sound I want people to know when I shift.

And that's it for now, i am working on those pictures...have to go get a cord to run from comp to camera next friday...and all your help will be very appreciated.
