Are the lug nuts the shank type (w/ washer) or conical type (no washer)? Both can be used as lug-centric fasteners, as long as they match the design of the wheel. I have very long studs front and rear to accommodate the thick center disc on the Weld Pro-Star drag wheels. The Welds use the shank/washer nuts, with a long (1.38") concentric shank that inserts into the wheel. I have to use open end nuts because the closed-end nuts would bottom out on the studs.

For street wheels I use AFS replicas of the Corvette ZR1 wheels. They are bored for a conical lug nut, just like the stock wheels. Early 4th Gens can't run hub-centric wheels, because the front and rear wheel hub diameters are different. So they use the conical lug nuts to center the wheels correctly. I had to drill out the ends of the lug nuts that came with the AFS wheels, because of the longer studs.
