Hi All,

As everyone has put their cars away for the winter, I have a great idea that would like to share with the members of the Charter Oak Firebird club to consider for this year 2009… A 2009 Cruise Night - 40th Anniversary of Trans Am Celebration.

Yes it is hard to believe but Trans Am is 40 years old in 2009….

I was thinking that we need one Big Event in New England to plan for year…that we all could be enthusiastic about.

Here is what I am proposing… can we assemble a COMPLETE YEAR COLLECTION of Firebirds from 1967 to 2002 for a Big Event Cruise Night…

This would be done with our own Club member cars and with a lot of help with participation from our Firebird friends from New York, Rhode Island and The Massachusetts chapter of Firebird Nation.

We would need Firebirds, Formulas or Trans Ams to represent each year… one car to represent a year. We will need lots of advertisement, I hope to have the media there, I have talked to a photographer that would be willing to take professional digital photos of every ones cars for a small fee if participants want a print of their car. Maybe another GM F Body or Pontiac Club could show up to support the Cruise…maybe it would be possible to even make a glossy catalog and calendar with cruise photos of all the cars to sell for $10.00.

I was thinking …. Could we do this? Could we assemble a COMPLETE YEAR COLLECTION of Firebirds from 1967 to 2002 for a Big Event Cruise Event?

Could we do it at a location in central Connecticut that would be convenient to all. Can we get help from other Firebird friends in New York, Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut to bring cars that we need for missing years?

Do we have every year covered? We will need 36 Firebirds….

1967, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002.

Stay tuned for more information… we build excitement.

Not a bad idea, are you saying to have each model of every year? Like firebird, formula, trans am or just one of each year? Id say that the each model of every year would be VERY impressive but the latter would be equally as cool. Here is the list of members from MA chapter of FBNCC

1987 formula 350
1979 trans am
1978 trans am (2)
1990 firebird
1987 firebird
1986 trans am
1996 firebird
1999 trans am
2000 trans am (3)
1989 trans am
1984 trans am
1989 firebird
1993 formula
2000 firebird

Larry we can get things started at the Club Dinner the 17th. Why not start a topic in the Charter Oak Members only Garage. Send me what you want sent all our members. I'm sure that this event will get a lot of support from the Guys and Gals here also.

Hey Larry,
What part of CT are you located?? I am in Branford right on the shoreline. What you want to do sounds like an awesome idea. There is an all firebird show every July in Sarratoga Springs NY you should try to attend. Great fun and lots of birds. Keep us updated on your proposed event as it sounds like a great idea.

Thanks Jesse for your support,

You are right....I think one car representing each year would be an impressive achievement to pull off and a lot easier to do If we could get a Firebird, Formula and a Trans Am from every year ....this would be way too awesome to imagine.... especially getting a 1969 Trans Am and some of the really scarce Formulas.

Thanks for sharing the list of members from the MA chapter of FBNCC.... we would welcome everyone willing to participate.

We should have more information coming in the next few months. I will keep you guys posted....

Larry

Hi Harry,
Thanks for the support and the show information. I am located in Southeastern Connecticut directly between the Mohegan Sun Casino and Foxwoods Casino. As we get more planning and information I will keep you posted.

No prob Larry. There is also a 97 TA and a 76 TA in town here that will be willing Im sure.

Like you said about having one of each car, you have a good point but imagine it! maybe we can advertise the hell out of it (getting all models and all years) if/when we do this. It make take a while (years even) but man, imagine it. The sky would open and champaigne would fall from the heavens as the Phoenix gods smile upon us.

Also, how would you want to do it if we have more than one of that year show up? Are you looking for a ONE of each year or just get all the years covered? For instance we have three 2000 Trans ams, do we choose one or do they all get in etc...
