Hey everyone. I have a 1973 Formula 400 that is fighting me. The other day the ignition key started acting strange, not wanting to disengage the starter when you turn it. Then, it just stopped working at all. I 1st replaced the key barrel. Not the problem. This AM I lowered the steering column and replaced the switch. That was not the problem. Its the steering wheel locking mechanism up inside the column. I cannot find an exploded view of that mechanism anywhere.  google is not helping me at all.  Has anybody encountered this, and/or can anybody direct me to  a technical resource of some kind?  Thanks

Could be the sector gear. That's what's chewed up in this vid. Tilt and non-tilt setups are different

X2 there's various other mechanical and electrical components that can be worn or out of alignment that will lead to issues with ignition.

Scroll down to #4, the 1972 Service Manual and click on that link. It shouldn't be to different from your 1973.

Scroll down to #3 reply and click on 1972 Pontiac Service Manual.pdf   71.47MB   760 downloads

Page 9-32 is the beginning of the F- series Steering.

Download those two manuals for future references.
