Ive recently bought this 89 T/A a couple months ago she ran fine for a week but then she had issues starting we narrowed it down to a fuel pump issue because shed turn over but shes not igniting any fuel I got her back today but was told she has maybe an electrical issues within a relay Im very new to project cars and such so I only know basic maintenance I took it off the shops hands to figure it out myself they told me when she sits for some time in a cool shaded area she starts up and runs like a dream but when left out in the sun or heat she has trouble starting if any of yall know whats going on I would very much appreciate it T/As are one of my dream cars and Id like to get her back on the road

Have you scanned the ECM for codes?  Very easy to do on a 3rd Gen.

Have you confirmed spark at the plugs?

Is the security light on for a problem with the PASS-Key (VATS) System?

If you will go to the 3rd gen tech section. Then hit the master index at top. We have a 1988 factory service manual you can download. Your 89 shares about 99% of info with 88.

Manual has a driveabilty & emissions section. It has codes listed & explained. Plus troubleshooting for codes. As well as troubleshooting charts for many problems.
