There should be a build tag on door/door jamb/glove box listing codes for all options. L69 I think was for the 305HO.

The 3rd gen info I have puts top 305 with carb as 190 hp @ 4800 torque is 240 @ 3200
There was a port fuel injected version of the 305 that had 210 hp @ 4000 torque 270 @ 3200
The 8th digit of vin number of your car will tell you which engine you have. F= 305 210hp LB9 FI, G = 305 190hp L69 carb, H = 305 155hp LG4,
And take the vin report with a grain of salt. Every car you check will come back a unique in some area.
And according to sources, all L69 equipped cars came with a manual trans.

It's good that car spoke to you, so to speak. You'll take good car of her and preserve a piece of history.

I have an 85 L69 with the WS6 suspension package. I have done quite a bit of research into this. I am new to Firebird Nation and I see that this post is from 2017. I would guess that you have found all that you wanted to know by now. However, if this is not the case, I would be happy to share what I have learned about my 85 version of the L69.

I just got the car to my house in GA from where it has been sitting for almost 21 years in VA so I don't have many pictures. However, I don't know how to post any of the few pictures I have. I will figure it out and post what I can. I did just add it to my garage with one picture there.

When you want to post a pic or file to site, hit the more reply options tab, which is next to the post tab @ bottom right corner of reply box.
When new page opens, scroll down and you will see a browse button.Hit that and find where you pics are. When you find a pic you want to add to post, hit the attach button. When pic has attached, you can go to the next pic & repeat the process.
When done attaching pics, hit the add reply button.

Thanks Sea Dog. Here are a couple of pics. I guess I didn't take the pic of the engine with the air filter cover and dual intakes and the 5.0. H.O. on it.

Cool car!
I always liked the looks of the third gens with the side skirts etc. My son had an 88 GTA back in the day.

I like it too. The whole concept of bringing my brothers car back to life makes me both nervous and excited at the same time. I have a lot of work to do on it. I should have brought it home after we lost my brother, but I just couldn't do it. It has taken me 20 years but I finally have it. I am still not sure where to start, but now that I have confirmed I have numbers matching, at least I know I don't want to simply replace the motor or transmission. I will keep what I have and make it work.
I do have a question about the rebuild process, but not sure if I should keep this thread going to do it or if I should start a new one specific to my question (which would give others who have this question an opportunity to find it). Given you seem to know FBN pretty well, which direction should I go?
