Mine is definitely female. My wife calls her my other woman. Would be weird if I spent so much time rubbing her if she was a dude.

I tend to make the determination based on appearance & what's lurking underhood - the WS6 blackbird across from me I would say is definitely male due to the more aggressive appearance & a frighteningly loud exhaust.

The poll seems to be missing an option.

I have always referred to my Firebird as 'it' or 'the Firebird', wonder if this is a language thing. In Danish it is pretty much only ships, which we refer to with gender, and even then it isn't a 100% thing.

Just goes to show how people of different cultures have different beliefs and customs. To the American Indian, everything is alive.

Good morning DK, I hear you, on the Sino Defense Forum, I am the Air Force Brat, and one of our French posters refers to aircraft even ships as "he" when listing their capabilities, for instance as to the F-35, Mr Forbin will say "he carries 4 AARAAM" when listing load-outs, or fuel capacities??? Your comments have been most helpful, as I am looking for a little insight to satisfy my curiosity?

True, and even on the frontier, a mans bow or rifle may have had a name, while I am 1/16 Cherokee, I am not as familiar with the culture, although I do like deck shoes, which are almost moccasins, and I like to wear a knife??? could just be watching to many episodes of "Daniel Boone".

In light of that, do you feel that American Indian culture is as gender specific??? I believe they might refer to a bow as a hunting animal??? like hawk, or mountain lion??? or a graceful small game bow as a "swallow" or even a sparrow"??

I never really thought of my Formula as 1 gender or the other. One of the guys here named the car the "Princess", spoiled and pampered. And the name has kind of stuck.

The convertible has a couple of names also, Christine, Chrissy (because I refuse to call the car Christine, lol) and numerous expletives given to her by Bryon. He's most defiantly confirmed that car is female and cranky.

RIP Jay - So glad to have known you

That kind of confirms my suspicions??? I'm thinking that older Firebirds seem to have more personality, or maybe the people that own them just care more about what we drive???

The international collision regulations for ships over 100 tons actually states that all vessels should be referred to as "she".
