Don't know how long they've been out.

Power to brake pedal and out of there. I think it's in the steering column where it connects to the cruise control. The cruise control is flaky when it works at all.

How do I get to the wiring in there?

Any other advice would be appreciated.

Follow the trail. If power is coming out of stop light switch then head to turn signal switch. Your looking for a connector C216. It has many wires and should be attached the steering column, Cavity M a yellow wire goes to left stop light. Cavity N, a dark green wire goes to right brake light. Also near the back of car is C400. It has the same 2 wires running through it.

C216 is the group of wires running through steering column from turn signal switch.

You already have power coming out of brake switch, so check for power with brake pedal pushed at the yellow and dark green wires at C216. Do you have power. If yes, go to C400, and continue search chain to tail lights them selves. If no, turn signal switch is likely suspect. So, do your turn signals work? Part of the function of the turn signal switch is to let brake lights work when turn signal is switched on.

Sea Dog,

Thanks for all the info.

I've assumed the problem was in the turn signal area. I know the power for the brake light s goes there for the cruise control to know when the brakes are pushed. And cruise control has been intermittent since I got the car.

My question is how to get to 216. There's no info in Haynes on how to make the wiring there available and I dont want to short something up there out and set off the airbags.

Again, thanks for all the help.
