i have a 94 pontiac firebird formula slightly modded with the stock automatic trans in it. i seem to be having a problem on the track going into 2nd and 3rd gear. its like every time it wants to shift into the next gear when i have the throttle wide open it first wants to bounce off the rev limiter a couple times. i have tried to run with the perform trans button on and off and i have left it in drive and shifted it on my own. no matter what i do it will bounce off the rev limiter at least two or three times before it shifts into the next gear. it is only doing this when the throttle is wide open. it shifts fine on just day to day normal driving. i have no idea what the problem might be and maybe someone else has been here before. please give me some suggestions to what you think could be the problem. thanks so much

has your tuner changed the shift points? sounds like they should be lowered by a few hundred RPMs at WOT

Did you do anything to the PCM when you "slightly modded" your engine? I noticed you have a 355. Any SES lights on? When did this problem start to appear?

Is the throttle body larger than stock? That will throw off the shift points, because there is more air flow at a lower throttle position. Do you have the stock rear axle ratio? If you change the gears (and don't reprogam), it throws off the speedometer, and the PCM uses both MPH and RPM to shift the tranny. Do you have a shift kit in it?

You really need a tune, particularly when you have the computer controlling the 4L60E shifting.
